Yesterday at work, we were in a team meeting and the topic drifted into coding agents and LLMs. Everyone was swapping model news, talking about what they’re running locally, which tools are actually useful, which ones are just hype. I was listening and it hit me: just 3-4 years ago was when ChatGPT surfaced and changed the entire landscape of the world as we know it. I blurted out, “this is crazy.. we never used to talk about this.”
And it’s true. It didn’t feel normal back then. Now it’s so normal that we talk about it the same way we talk about git or CI or cloud costs. Models are just… part of the job. Part of the air.
It’s exciting and overwhelming at the same time.
My productivity is up 10 fold at least, but now that’s what’s expected of me. There’s no going back to a time before AI was your swiss army knife. This is the new baseline. The new muscle memory. The new way you think about building.
It feels a lot like the birth of the Internet age. I lived through that too. I remember the wonder and amazement at the potential future before me. This is the same vibe… the same seismic shift.
What a time to be alive!
